What is the difference between YES OB and YES WB?
YES® WB water based and YES® OB plant-oil based can be used alone or together depending on what your body needs. They are different and complementary in their actions:
YES® WB water based personal lubricant
- A unique intimate lubricant with excellent moisturising properties
- Enhances sexual pleasure and sensitivity
- Provides reassuringly realistic lubrication
- No smell, no taste, no stickiness
- Compatible with natural rubber, latex and polyisoprene condoms and toys
- pH balanced to maintain the typical vaginal environment and combat thrush & irritation
- Formulated from water-retaining plant polymers to rehydrate delicate tissues
- Rapidly relieves discomfort and dryness
- Gynaecologist recommended.
- Hypoallergenic: formulated to minimise the risk of allergies
- Indistinguishable from your own moisture
YES® OB plant-oil based lubricant
- Luxurious, long-lasting lubricants, giving additional protection for dry and sensitive tissues.
- Perfect for prolonged love-making
- Natural plant-oil alternatives to synthetic chemical lubricants such as silicone or petroleum-based products like Vaseline.
- Also suitable for intimate or whole body massage
- Safe for use with silicone toys
- For exceptional skin conditioning YES®OB contains:
- Richly nourishing, providing soothing relief
- Can protect and feed dry intimate tissues. Will not, however, rehydrate tissues as do not contain water.
- Gynaecologist recommended
- Hypoallergenic: formulated to minimise the risk of allergies
For best protection against discomfort when making love we suggest you use both products together, (YES® OB applied first followed by YES® WB). This gives robust lubrication from YES® OB and the extra slip from YES® WB on top ensures long-lasting lovemaking with the maximum lubrication. When used on top of YES® OB, YES® WB is not quickly absorbed so both partners get the benefit of natural feeling lubrication without the need to reapply regularly.
The tubes of our personal lubricant do not come with a reusable applicator as they are for both health & wellbeing and pleasure and are applied with your fingers. We do sell the water based personal lubricants in a prefilled, single use applicator so that you can apply the product further up into the vagina. Please refer to our products page on our website for more information.
What is the difference between YES® VM and YES® WB?
Both YES® VM and YES® WB are pH matched to typical vaginal pH which means both are ideal for vaginal use.
YES® WB Personal Lubricant is designed to release water more rapidly than YES® VM, to instantly rehydrate and lubricate dry tissues to enable intercourse.
YES® VM Vaginal Moisturiser is designed to release water to rehydrate dry vaginal tissues as and when it is needed, over extended periods, such as 1-3 days. YES® VM will instantly soothe and calm irritation, itching and burning as does YES® WB. YES VM is more of a slow release moisturiser, the rate of moisturising is determined by the degree of vaginal tissue dryness. The drier they are the more water will be released. YES® VM puts your body in control of rehydrating herself.

Using and Storing YES
Can I use YES with condoms?
YES® WB and YES® VM have been successfully tested for compatibility with latex and polyisoprene condoms. They are not compatible with polyurethane condoms.
YES® OB is not compatible with condoms due to the oil content.
Can YES be used with sex toys?
YES® WB and YES® VM are safe for use with latex, plastic and silicone toys.YES® OB is fine for use with plastic and silicone toys.
How do I apply YES?
As we all vary so much, we prefer not to be prescriptive about the application or recommending amounts.
YES OB plant-oil based is a rich, healing emollient which has a thick consistency at room temperature and a lovely smooth liquid at body temperature. YES OB plant-oil based is made from skin nourishing butters and oils and is a long-lasting intimate lubricant and a great massage oil. Apply the lubricant with your fingers.
YES WB is a gel that becomes less thick, more liquid as it is used. Rub a little in your fingers and you will see how it liquefies. For use as a personal lubricant, YES WB can be applied before and or during lovemaking. Privately, before lovemaking, women can put it on, in and around the vulva and vagina, using fingers to insert the lubricant well into the vagina, as well as to the labia. Applying lubricant during lovemaking can also become part of the intimate experience, enjoyed by both partners.
If you are in any doubt about how much to use, go for more not less, water based lubricants are not known for lasting a long time (that’s one of the reasons why we make YES OB plant-oil based). YES WB contains no glycerine. Glycerine makes lubricants feel sticky and can dry tissues too. So using lots of YES WB will not leave you feeling sticky.
YES VM use about 5ml (a teaspoon full). Put it on where the dryness occurs and depending on the severity of your dryness you may need to use the product more frequently. YES WB is very soothing and can calm sore itchy tissues as well.
YES O YES is supplied with a rollerball to help limit the very small amount of YES O YES you need to your fingers. Once on the fingers is can be applied to the vulva as desired.
Please note that YES OB plant-oil based is not compatible with condoms, all oils (natural or synthetic) seem to dissolve latex.
For all YES products: Their purity and naturalness means there are no ingredients that have concerns attached to them and they have no known side effects. So we advise that you use YES products liberally for best effect.
How do you store YES products?
Various things can cause the life of any product to be shortened, extreme temperatures (leaving it on a sunny window sill) or the addition of bacteria or fungi when removing the lid/cap.
As YES products are made from natural ingredients, they are more sensitive to harsh conditions than their synthetic chemical cousins (actually more distant than cousins). Do not leave them in the sun. Keep them at room temperature, no freezing or boiling and keep the lid on when you are not using them.
Where can I apply YES?
The versatile YES® range includes products which are ideal for lovemaking, play, body glide, massage and suitable for vaginal, anal and oral use.
YES® WB water based and YES® OB plant oil based intimate lubricants can be applied to the penis and the vaginal area, to enhance pleasure and assist penetration.
Remember – it is important to lubricate the vulva as well as the vagina.
To maximise comfort and reduce friction, please apply generously.
YES® OB plant oil based has the added advantage of being a luxurious massage oil, and can be applied for all-over body glide, as well as for intimate massage.
YES® WB and OB can be safely applied to other parts of the body, during play or massage, as they nurture the skin, leaving it sleek and soft, with no unpleasant residue or stickiness.
YES® WB, YES® OB, and YES® BUT are safe even if swallowed, as they are made from pure food quality ingredients, making them suitable for oral use.
YES® VM vaginal moisturiser is designed for vaginal use to address dryness, and it is also suitable as a lubricant.
YES® CLEANSE are designed for use on the vulva only.
The YES® products in tubes are for finger application, while the pre-filled applicators enable a deeper delivery without the product coming into direct contact with the hands.

YES and Your Health
Is YES suitable if I have a health condition?

Is it safe to use YES whilst pregnant?
We believe that when you are pregnant, you are especially careful about your diet and the products you use, as you want your bodily environment to be as welcoming and kind as possible to your growing baby.
During the hormonal changes brought about by pregnancy, it is common for a woman to experience vaginal dryness, and to need a lubricant. If vaginal dryness is experienced as a result of hormone changes due to pregnancy – common in the 2nd trimester – then YES® WB would be appropriate as it has the dual action of moisturisation and lubrication.
YES® WB is better, in this respect, than all other lubricants as it contains no glycerin, no sugars, no petrochemicals, no parabens, no grapefruit seed extract and no skin irritants. As it is certified organic by the Soil Association, all its ingredients are guaranteed to be as pure as possible and contain no GM (genetically modified) ingredients.
We consider that you would be very responsible in choosing pure YES® products when pregnant.
What is osmolality?
Osmolality – as defined by The YES® YES Company LtdOsmolality, a more formal definition, is the measure of dissolved particles per unit of water in a solution or plasma (also called the concentration). The osmolality of a lubricant is important because the epithelial (outer) layer of skin is constantly trying to maintain an equilibrium of osmolality (remember Osmosis from school biology lessons?) between the skin cells and the lubricant on the outside wall of that cell.
Osmosis is the process where water moves back and forth across cell membranes in response to the concentration of chemicals in the liquid (here we mean lubricant) on the outside of the cell. Osmosis tries to balance the concentration on both sides.
When a lubricant has a higher osmolality than human cells or bodily fluids (like blood) it is called hyper-osmotic. When tissues are in contact with a hyper-osmotic lubricant they try to dilute the lubricant by releasing water. This can cause the cell to die as it becomes super concentrated and no longer able to function. The net result is the layer of cells break down and the body’s barrier to infection is compromised
So hyper-osmotic lubricants can irritate the skin, cause the barrier layer of skin to be damaged and dehydrated and leave a mucous membrane (anal or vaginal) more susceptible to bacterial infections or STI contraction
When a lubricant has a lower osmolality than human cells or bodily fluids (like blood) it is called hypo-osmotic. When tissues are in contact with a hypo-osmotic lubricant they try to pull water from the lubricant into the cell. This means that a slightly hypo-osmotic lubricant would rehydrate dry tissues, but an extremely hypo-osmotic lubricant could cause these cells to burst.
Therefore in our view:
- A Perfect Anal Lubricant’s osmolality would be iso-osmotic, meaning it would have identical osmotic pressure, or its concentration would be identical, to the tissues to which it is applied.
- A Perfect Vaginal Lubricant’s osmolality would be hypo to iso-osmotic, meaning it would have similar osmotic pressure, or its concentration would be similar, to the tissues to which it is applied.
- A Perfect Vaginal Moisturiser’s osmolality would be iso-osmotic, meaning it would have identical osmotic pressure, to vaginal tissues as it can be present in the vagina for extended periods, like 1-2 days, and will release water as needed.
- A Perfect Sperm Friendly Lubricant’s osmolality would be iso-osmotic with semen, which is slightly higher than typical human tissues.- An iso-osmotic lubricant, to most human tissues, would have an osmolality of 270-310 mOsm/kg as this encompasses the osmolality of human plasma.
