Why Certified Organic?
Beauty products can claim on their packaging that they are organic even if only one small ingredient was grown organically, this can confuse and deceive customers as to what exactly they’re applying on their body.
To receive certified organic status, products must have their ingredients checked, verified and guaranteed by an authorised, independent body. The third-party organisation will guarantee and approve the purity of the ingredients present in the product which must be a minimum of 95% certified organic to qualify for any organic certification.
All YES products are organically certified by The Soil Association. This means that all our ingredients, manufacturing, bottling, packaging and storage meet stringent organic purity standards. We ensure our production methods are ethical and have a minimal impact on the environment and we regularly audit the trail of our organic ingredients from the farm to the bottle.
We are proud to be the world’s first and best certified organic range of intimacy products. We source and use natural ingredients such as flax extract, aloe vera, cocoa and shea butters. All of our formulas are designed to be side-effect free and contain no concerning chemicals, hormones, parabens, glycerine or known skin irritants.
Why Purity Matters
Whether for health, pleasure or medical reasons, when using some mainstream products on sensitive and internal body parts, the chemicals and hormones that they often contain can cause skin reactions leading to irritation, burning or tissue damage. It is worth noting that up to 60% of what we put onto our skin, particularly mucosal membranes such as the vagina, can be absorbed into the bloodstream in the same way as oral medication is when swallowed.
The YES range are all designed with fewer allergens to be side-effect free which is important when being used on such sensitive areas.
It can be hard to be sure that the products you choose are good for your skin, if you are concerned always check the packaging before you buy. Below you will see a list of the top ten potentially harmful ingredients which are commonly found in health and beauty products to look out for. These chemicals have not been tested for their long-term effects in people.
- Ethyl hexylsalicylate (Octisalate)
- Homosalate
- Imidazolidinyl urea
- Octinoxate
- Octocrylene
- Polyquaternium 7
- PEGs : 7;40;200;12
- Polysorbate 20
- Red 17 artificial colour 26100
- Retinyl palmitate
According to the Soil Association, in a recent independent study, 76% of the public felt labels on products were misleading which isn’t surprising when, incredibly, chemicals such as formaldehyde (used as a preservative and can cause respiratory diseases) and aluminium (common in deodorants and linked to Alzheimer’s and autism) were found in many so called “organic” products.
There is research taking place and increased evidence that using products which contain certain harsh chemicals and parabens can increase the risk of breast cancer and tumours. It may seem unlikely that a product used topically rather than being ingested could put users at that sort of risk, but those chemicals have been detected in urine, breast milk and even blood, demonstrating how easily they are absorbed into the body through skin, particularly mucosal membranes. That’s why YES products are all certified organic and use the purest ingredients to safeguard your intimate health whilst guaranteeing high-end performance.
